Leah is a New York State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Auburn University where she also completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Leah is a professional member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the New York Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is trained in Discernment Counseling and Collaborative Problem Solving. She works with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.
Leah is an empathic therapist who works to ensure that her clients feel heard, valued, and safe to express vulnerabilities. She believes that people are doing the best they can in their current circumstances. Leah is passionate about fostering hope in her clients and helping them to develop coping skills to manage their specific situation.
Leah has experience working with individuals, couples, families, and teens in outpatient, private practice, and residential settings. She recognizes that people do not live in a bubble and pays careful attention to the impact of her clients' families and partners on them, as well as the impact of her clients on those closest to them. Leah uses evidence-based, systemic models to help clients achieve growth and change with a variety of issues, including communication difficulties, relationship conflict, adjustment around life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, establishing and maintaining boundaries, and emotion regulation.
