Melissa places an importance on improving the overall well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families. She is understanding and highly empathic in her role as an LGBTQ=affirmative therapist and understands the impact that being LBGTQ+ can have on an individual and their relationships with the people in their lives. In addition to individual therapy, Melissa works with couples who are LGBTQ+ to help them work through communication issues and patterns of hurt and anger that many couples experience, while holding the knowledge that identifying within the LGBTQ+ community can add to life's stressors.

Melissa also works with individuals who are gender non-conforming, transgender, as well as those who are exploring their identity. Melissa creates a safe, warm, nonjudgmental environment for all of her clients to help them feel secure in exploring their gender identities and holds the understanding that an identity is not something to be "figured out" quickly. Melissa devotes the time to each of her clients who are exploring their identity, and aims to support clients where they are at in their journey.
